Einen schönen guten Abend an die WLAN-Experten,

seit einem jüngsten iOS-Update können sich bei uns in ein mit 802.1X abgesichertes WLAN keine Apple-Geräte mehr einbuchen.

LCOS 10.20.0355RU3, AP+WLC-Struktur mit RADIUS-Forwarding gegen Windows NPS.

Im Trace immer derselbe Fehler: Authentifizierung erfolgreich und dann "Rejected Association [..]: cannot parse RSN/WPA info element"

Was weiterhin funktioniert ist die iOS-Anmeldung an WPA-PSK Netzwerken.

WPA3 wurde schon testweise deaktiviert, ebenso SHA256 beim Key Management. Fast Roaming ist aus Kompatibilitätsgründen ohnehin aus, ebenso alle Sitzungsschlüssel-Typen außer CCMP-128 (Standardeinstellung).

Auch mit der aktuellen Beta (10.20.0367) das gleiche Verhalten.


Ist das Problem bekannt?

Traces und Captures (lcoscap) hätte ich auf Wunsch zur Hand...

Bei uns funktioniert es mit Standard+Fast Roaming angeschaltet.

Mit 802.1X-Authentifizierung und unter aktuellem LCOS 10.20?

Fast Roaming haben wir allerdings aus, da zu viele inkompatible Clients...

Hallo zusammen,

die gleiche Fehlermeldung im WLAN-Status-Trace habe ich sporadisch in meinen Schulungen beobachtet. Was genau die Teilnehmer gemacht/konfiguriert haben, weiß ich nicht. Eine offensichtliche Fehlkonfiguration kann ich ausschließen. Hatte auch noch keine Zeit, dies nachzustellen.

Allerdings waren es bei mir immer Geräte mit LCOS 10.20 RU3 (vorher keine Probleme!), ausgeschaltete WLAN-Verschlüsselung und als Clients sowohl Samsung Android-Smartphones und Panasonic Toughbook CF-53.

Fehler ist mehrfach unabhängig von einander aufgetreten.
Vielleicht hilft die Beobachtung bei der Fehleranalyse.

Wir werden dann mal testweise APs auf die 10.20 RU2 downgraden...

Moin,

also in den Associate-Request weiter oben fehlt das WPA/RSN-Infoelement einfach komplett. Das ergibt keinen Sinn, das bedeutet, daß der Client gar kein WPA machen will (sondern WEP...), und das muß das LANCOM ablehnen. Warum der Client das macht und was ihn dazu veranlaßt, kann ich nicht sagen, ich kann nicht hellsehen ;-) Wenn Du eine LCOS-Version und/oder Konfig hast, mit der das bei diesem Client nicht passiert, kannst Du ja mal die Probe Responses, die vom LANCOM kommen, vergleichen.

Also wenn Du die Meldung "cannot parse RSN/WPA info element..." bekommst, dann kann die Verschlüsselung auf dem LANCOM nicht ausgeschaltet gewesen sein...

Der Client hat die SSID als unverschlüsselt angezeigt? Wie hat sie das LANCOM denn in seinem Status angezeigt?

Dann ist die logischste und schlüssigste Erklärung, daß Dein Gerät die SSID fälschlicherweise als nicht (WPA-)verschlüsselt erkannt hat - und dem LANCOM deshalb einen Associate Request ohne RSN/WPA-Infoelement geschickt hat. Eine plausible Erklärung dafür wäre, daß es in der Umgebung des Clients mehrere APs gab, die diese SSID ausgestrahlt haben - mit unterschiedlichen Verschlüsselungs-Einstellungen. Vielleicht hattest Du sogar eines jener tollen WLAN-Systeme in der Umgebung, die mit gefälschten Probe Responses und Beacons gezielt versuchen, WLAN zu stören, die ihrer Meinung nach "böse" sind.

Das WLAN war auch als unverschlüsselt konfiguriert - zumindest war in LANconfig der Haken entsprechend entfernt. Auf der CLI habe ich nicht nachgeschaut, ob das dort auch korrekt umgesetzt war. In LANmonitor habe ich in dem Moment auch nicht geschaut.

Das WLAN war auch als unverschlüsselt konfiguriert - zumindest war in LANconfig der Haken entsprechend entfernt. Auf der CLI habe ich nicht nachgeschaut, ob das dort auch korrekt umgesetzt war. In LANmonitor habe ich in dem Moment auch nicht geschaut.
Die Gerätekonfig für diesen Fall würde mich interessieren, wenn Du das noch einmal nachgestellt bekommst. Wegen der Frage nach den Probe Responses habe ich von ivt noch nichts gehört.

Hallo zusammen,

bitte entschuldigt die verspätete Antwort - das Problem war nicht so leicht "greifbar".

Mit der zwischenzeitlich erschienenen 10.30.0028-RC1 bzw. 10.30.0032 haben wir aktuell folgenden Stand:

iOS-Geräte können sich offenbar wieder via WPA-802.1X anmelden, vorausgesetzt das "WPA2 Key Management" im logischen WLAN-Profil steht auf "Standard". Die Einstellung "Standard & SHA256" führt wieder zum "Cannot parse RSN/WPA info element"-Fehler. Ob die WPA-Version selbst auf "WPA2" oder "WPA2/3" steht, scheint hingegen keinen Unterschied zu machen.

"WPA2 Key Management" = "Standard & Fast Roaming" sowie "Standard & Fast Roaming & SHA256" scheinen (bei der 10.30.0032) ebenfalls unproblematisch für die Interoperabilität mit iOS-Clients bei WPA-802.1X zu sein.

Die Kombination "Standard & SHA256" allerdings führt bei uns mit denselben Clients zuverlässig in den "Cannot parse RSN/WPA info element"-Fehler (mit WPA-Version = "WPA2" sowie "WPA2/3").

Moin,

das mußt Du letzten Endes Apple fragen, wieso ihre Clients gerade auf diese eine Kombination allergisch reagieren. Wie Du in dem Diff ja schon selber gesehen hast, liegt der einzige Unterschied darin, welche AKMs der AP Clients anbietet, und darin unterscheiden sich auch die 10.20 und die 10.30 nicht voneinander. Selbst wenn ein Client sich entscheidet, daß ihm diese Kombination nicht geheuer ist, dann sollte er sich eben gar nicht anmelden, anstatt einen Associate Request ohne das RSN/WPA-Element zu schicken, den ein AP ablehnen muß.
